Renowned for their “strikingly beautiful,
luminescent” sound (The New York Times), this string quartet has
won acclaim throughout the world for 30 years. Founded in 1974,
the ensemble quickly achieved international recognition by
becoming the first American quartet ever to win an international
competition and won top prizes in three major international
competitions within four years. The Audubon Quartet has
concertized throughout major halls of North and South America,
Europe, the Middle East, and in 1981, became the first American
quartet to visit China. Other special honors include
preformances at the White House, the inauguration of governors,
and performances for the BBC, NPR, and CBS Sunday Morning. Their
Homestead performance will highlight music from “The Great
American Songbook” including composers Jerome Kern and George
Gershwin.
